Calling all Waterloo Region tech marketers!

At the very least, I hope to spur some productive discussions, but my ultimate goal is to help to advance our region’s tech marketing effectiveness, overall.

Update: On February 12th, we released the Waterloo Region Technology Marketing Spotlight, which combined a top-down study of publicly available company information with a bottom-up survey of technology marketers.

Click the link in the image to view the full report – no forms to fill…just click, download, read, and hopefully learn and enjoy!

Since the survey’s closed, I’ve disabled the links in the original post, below.

Thanks to everyone who supported the project!

As part of a fun little research project, I’ve created a survey for Waterloo Region Technology Marketers.

Project Goals

I aim to produce a short report/study that provides us all with some common understanding of shared issues, priorities, concerns, etc.

At the very least, I hope to spur some productive discussions, but my ultimate goal is to help to advance our region’s tech marketing effectiveness, overall.

Within the larger project, the role of the survey is to gain insights into the region’s tech marketers, including:

  • Our rich, diverse demographics
  • Broad characteristics of where we work, the markets we target, etc.
  • What we’re trying to achieve in our roles
  • The challenges we encounter
  • And so on…

I’ll aggregate the responses in a completely anonymous manner, and I plan to include interesting and instructive findings within a larger report freely available for download.

(to those of you familiar with some of my past data-driven report work: yes, it’s like that, but partially powered by a neat survey component)

Incentives!

What’s in it for you? Well, in addition to both the positive feelings that come with contributing to something informative, and the opportunity to have your voice heard, we also have thirteen fabulous* bribes prizes that will be awarded at random:

  • One $50 gift card to one of Amazon, iTunes, Starbucks, or an in-region/local business
  • Two $25 gift cards (same places)
  • Ten $10 gift cards (same places)

*for fairly restrained definitions of “fabulous”

And, unlike many tradeshows and NBA draft lotteries, the draw will be fair!

I’ll record the actual old-school paper draw, and I’ll include the video alongside the winners’ names in a future post. Who knows, maybe I’ll even drag a friend out from one of the big accounting firms to oversee things, like in those televised lottery draws!

The Deets

Here are the particulars:

  • Survey Link: Waterloo Region Technology Marketing Survey
  • Deadline for entry/completion: January 25th, 2019
  • How long will it take? We’re a few days in, now, and the average time to complete is slightly less than 10 minutes
